CHAMPS REGION VIII HEALTH CENTER SALARY/BENEFITS SURVEY & REPORT
The CHAMPS Region VIII Health Center Salary, Benefits, Turnover, and Vacancy Survey and Reports project, undertaken every other year, is planned, implemented, and compiled through collaborative efforts between CHAMPS and the Region VIII State Primary Care Associations (AUCH, CCHN, CHAD, MTPCA, and WYPCA). The resulting report analyzes data for all identified clinical and non-clinical positions at participating Region VIII health centers, including information from large and small organizations from all Region VIII states in a variety of locations (rural, urban, frontier) and serving diverse populations (communities, migrants, homeless). CHAMPS Organizational Members are mailed one complimentary copy of the main CHAMPS Region VIII Health Center Salary & Benefits Survey Report, and any health center submitting data for the project (regardless of membership status) also receives one complimentary copy; interested parties (members and non-members) are invited to order additional copies. Please refer to the CHAMPS Region VIII Health Center Salary Survey Companion Reports section for more information about other reports resulting from this project. Electronic copies of the 2022 CHAMPS Region VIII Health Center Salary & Benefits Report were made available in October 2022 to CHAMPS Organizational Members plus non-members that participated in the survey. Printed copies of the 2022 report were mailed in late 2022.

CHAMPS undertook an Abbreviated Region VIII Health Center Salary, Benefits, and Turnover Survey in spring 2023, to enable health centers to obtain up to date comparative compensation figures for a limited group of hard-to-recruit and -retain titles. An electronic version of this report has been made available to all CHAMPS Organizational Members as well as non-member organizations that participated in the survey. Printed copies of the 2023 were mailed in mid-October, 2023.

CHAMPS REGION VIII HEALTH CENTER SALARY SURVEY COMPANION REPORTS: WORKFORCE METRICS, CLINICAL STAFFING, AND PROVIDER PRODUCTIVITY EXPECTATIONS REPORTS
CHAMPS utilizes data submitted during the Region VIII Health Center Salary, Benefits, Turnover, and Vacancy Survey project described above to develop companion reports addressing workforce metrics, clinical staffing, and provider productivity expectations, released every other year. Current CHAMPS Organizational Members have access to these electronic reports via the Members Only section of the CHAMPS website. Interested non-members are invited to purchase electronic copies.
- The CHAMPS Region VIII Health Center Workforce Metrics Report (first available in 2022) includes an analysis of turnover rates, vacancy rates, and additional recruitment and retention (R&R) metrics like positions seeing challenging recruitment and/or turnover, tenure, and staff demographics.
- The CHAMPS Region VIII Health Center Clinical Staffing Report utilizes Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) data reported in the salary survey for every employee at each reporting Health Center to develop staffing ratios relating to Medical, Behavioral Health, and Dental Provider and Medical and Dental Support employees. The report also includes ratios related to additional selected administrative and clinical care team employees.
- The CHAMPS Region VIII Health Center Provider Productivity Expectations Report includes information about health center expectations for weekly hours, administrative vs. patient contact hours ratio, completed hourly visits, and standard patient panel sizes for medical, dental, and behavioral health providers.

The electronic 2022 CHAMPS Region VIII Health Center Workforce Metrics Report was made available in October 2022 to CHAMPS Organizational Members plus non-members that participated in the survey. The 2022 Region VIII Health Center Clinical Staffing and Provider Productivity Expectations Reports were made available in April 2023 to CHAMPS Organizational Members plus non-members that participated in the survey.

CHAMPS REGION VIII HEALTH CENTER DIRECTORY
This spiral-bound directory, released every other year, is a comprehensive listing of all Region VIII main grantee and satellite sites, including Community, Homeless, and Migrant Health Centers (CHCs) as well as state Primary Care Associations. Health Center listings also provide the names and contact information for administrative and clinical staff working at each site. CHAMPS Organizational Members receive one complimentary copy of the directory; interested parties (members and non-members) are invited to order additional copies.

CHAMPS REGION VIII RECRUITMENT & RETENTION SURVEY
CHAMPS undertakes Region VIII Health Center Recruitment & Retention Surveys and publishes related Reports on an as-needed basis to provide an analysis of data collected from staff members at all Region VIII Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) Health Center Program grantees and look-alikes (primarily community, migrant, and homeless health centers). This project is undertaken in collaboration with the Region VIII State Primary Care Associations (SPCAs) to provide CHAMPS (the Region VIII PCA), the region’s SPCAs, and participating health centers with information vital to strengthening and enhancing successful recruitment and retention strategies already in place, and to developing new and innovative ways to support successful recruitment and retention of staff in an era of dynamic program expectations and ongoing challenges in finding, and keeping, highly qualified employees.

REGION VIII BPHC UNIFORM DATA SYSTEM (UDS) SUMMARIES
The Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) gathers annual data from health centers across the country through the Uniform Data System (UDS). CHAMPS compiles this information from across Region VIII to create a regional summarized history of UDS information, providing two, three, and five year trends of selected Region VIII and national data, plus breakdowns of data (as well as percentages) by state, Region VIII, and nation for the current year. The information presented in each of the summaries includes:
- CHC awardees (grantees), staffing, visits (including percentage virtual beginning in 2020), and income information
- CHC patients information
- Provider productivity (Medical beginning in 2013, Dental beginning in 2014, and Mental/behavioral health personnel beginning in 2017)
- Financial performance (total cost per patient beginning in 2008) with related factors
- Diabetes and hypertension health outcomes and disparities (beginning in 2010)
- Progress on selected additional clinical performance measures
- Retired metrics:
- Tenure for selected provider and leadership positions was included with the 2012-2017 summaries
- Percentage locum, on-call, etc. for key staff positions was included with the 2016-2017 summaries
- Medical cost per medical visit was included with the 2008-2017 summaries
- 330 grant cost per patient was included with the 2014-2017 summaries

The summaries provide a region-wide compilation of population-based health trends. By offering state, regional, and national side-by-side data on socio-economic information, lifestyle issues, and morbidity and mortality rates, the summary charts can be used for creating community needs assessments, program and service development, and quality improvement efforts.
