Job Description:
This community funded safety net clinic on Colorado’s Western Slope is seeking a physician to join their team as the Medical Director. The clinic is a comprehensive, quality-focused family practice and is implementing electronic medical records in 2012. This clinic and its providers work in a team-based, patient-centered model, developing a single treatment plan that may include multiple modalities and referrals to an outside physician/hospital network. The Medical Director provides clinical leadership to the integrated medical care team and delivers primary care medical services in an approximate 40/60 time allocation of clinical and administrative duties. This position works in alignment with the clinic’s administration, clinical directors and Board of Directors to set and achieve strategic planning goals, implement the clinical vision, manage the medical policies and procedures, oversee department budget and fiscal management, manage administrative functions of the medical department, and provide oversight of midlevel staff.
The ideal candidate has significant clinical experience, is licensed in the state of Colorado, and has prior administrative experience. A physician interested in winding down their clinical practice and focusing on an administrative role will be most successful. The individual must be flexible with strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment to communicate with a wide variety of people. Previous non-profit, indigent and/or volunteer experience is preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish is desirable.
Clinic hours are Monday – Thursday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm; the physician may work at the satellite clinic located 13 miles away. No after-hours call. The clinic is not able to support a J-1 Visa waiver.
Practice Highlights:
This community funded safety net clinic serves as a medical home for uninsured Mesa county residents with low to moderate incomes. The clinic has two physicians and three NP/PAs on staff. The clinic’s integrated care model addresses psychosocial and basic needs through case management and access to individual, family and group counseling sessions.
