Julie began her work with CHAMPS in April 1995. Her primary responsibilities are to oversee the implementation of CHAMPS' strategic plan and to work with the CHAMPS Executive Committee and Board of Directors to lead the organization in achieving its mission. Julie’s major accomplishments during her tenure with CHAMPS include increased visibility and effectiveness of the Association, increased membership in the Association, increased non-federal and federal revenue of the Association, and increased collaborative partnerships. Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the George Washington University in Washington, DC and a Master of Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Denver, CO where she received the Karen Patterson Award for Community/Organizational Change and graduated with Honors. Prior to working for CHAMPS, Julie worked for the Freer and Sackler Galleries of Art/Smithsonian Institution and US Representative Patricia Schroeder. In her free time, Julie enjoys traveling, hiking, snowshoeing, and spending time with her friends and family.

Shannon Kolman

Shannon joined CHAMPS in October 2007. She supports the work of the Region VIII Community Health Center clinicians in the areas of quality improvement, clinician training, best practices, evidence based medicine, and provision of resources. Shannon has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Denver Metropolitan State College, and a MBA degree from the University of Colorado. She worked for Colorado's non-profit Medicaid HMO, Colorado Access, for nine years, and prior to that for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Shannon is also a certified practitioner in the Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education. In her free time, Shannon enjoys rock climbing, hiking, skiing, Chinese martial arts, and hanging out with her husband in Golden, Colorado.

Andrea Miller Martin

Andrea’s focus at CHAMPS is giving Region VIII health centers the tools they need to attract and retain a talented and dedicated workforce as well as serving the additional needs of CHAMPS members. Andrea joined the group in October 2004. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Art, Music, and Museum Studies from Luther College in Decorah, IA, and previously has used her skills at non- and for-profit cultural organizations throughout Denver. When not at CHAMPS, Andrea loves to backpack, climb, garden, paint, play the violin, and especially to enjoy the company of her husband Dusty, daughter Sophie, and mix of animals Lyra, Petzl, and Lichen .

Nadine Carr

Nadine joined CHAMPS in January 2004 and performs office management duties, prepares and mails packets for meetings and events, tracks purchasing, manages receiving and inventory of office supplies, and handles incoming calls providing information on health centers and their services. Before joining CHAMPS, Nadine spent five years as a Corporate Receptionist in the computer arena. In her free time, Nadine enjoys gardening, cooking, and going to the theatre.

Will Cheshire
Manager of Finance & Data

Will joined CHAMPS in August 1999, and his primary responsibilities are the preparation of monthly financial reports and managing the accounting function. Will has a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Florida and has completed the course work for a Master’s degree in Economics. Will's experience includes 26 years in transportation accounting and management. In addition, he was the Operations Vice President of a commercial bank for two years. In his spare time, Will enjoys walking the old narrow gauge railroad grades of southwestern Colorado, hiking in the backcountry, climbing fourteeners, and listening to classical music.

Margaret Black

Margaret came to CHAMPS as a temporary employee in April of 2003 and joined the staff fulltime in June 2003. She handles all payables and receivables and prepares the monthly financial reports. She assists the Finance Director with the quarterly and annual Federal Reports and the annual audit review. Margaret attended Metropolitan State College in Denver and has more than 25 years accounting experience ranging from small companies to major corporations. In her free time, Margaret enjoys bicycling with her family and playing in the percussion section of a concert band with her two daughters.

Julie Larkin
Accountant/Financial Analyst

Julie is the newest member of the accounting team, joining us in February 2008. Her primary responsibilities include payables, receivables, and payroll. Julie is a graduate of Metropolitan State College, Denver with a B.S. in Accounting (1999). As an accountant Julie has worked for both large corporations and small non-profit organizations. A native to the West, she and her husband spent the last eight years in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Cambodia and are excited to be back in Colorado where there are mountains and lots of sunshine. In her free time Julie enjoys spending time with her family, especially her husband Colin, and loves hiking, telemark skiing, biking, running, baking, and watching movies.

Patty Nelson
Operations Director

Patty's primary responsibilities are to administer and maintain benefit information for all staff members and provide both operational and IT support for all three organizations. Patty earned a bachelor of arts degree in marketing from Memphis State University. Patty spent five years in health care, managing dental practices in the Denver metro area. Patty's operational experience also includes working for adidas, Seiko and Citicorp. In Patty’s spare time she studies and teaches TaeKwonDo. She is currently working on her 2nd Don.

Katie McCune

Katie started as an Intern at CHAMPS in August 2008. Her primary focus is assisting with Workforce Development and Clinical Programs projects. She is currently a third year student at Colorado University Boulder studying sociology and microbiology. This is Katie’s first experience working in public health and she is excited about the opportunity. In her free time she enjoys dancing, backpacking, telemarking, doing puzzles, and spending time with her boyfriend Nick.
